Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero, 2 games that terrify me in equal measure due to my fear of water, are both getting Nintendo Switch 2 editions next week on the 17th of February.

What can we expect from these Switch 2 editions? Well, for starters, it’s been confirmed that these will be free upgrades for existing owners of the Subnautica games on the original Switch, which isn’t always guaranteed, but always appreciated.
Secondly, resolution and framerate are both getting a boost, with both games now running at 1440p 60 FPS when docked, and 1080p 60 FPS when undocked. There is also supposedly “optimized controls”, but it’s unclear what that means, possibly the Joy-Con 2’s mouse feature will be utilized.
Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero can be purchased on the Nintendo eShop for $29.99 each. The Switch 2 Edition will be available as a free upgrade from the 17th of February.
