This was a nice surprise from Konami’s segment during Sony’s State of Play event last night. Both Metal Gear Solid IV: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will be re-released as part of the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

Notoriously, MGS IV has only been playable on the PS3 since its release back in 2008, making it difficult to legitimately play it almost 20 years later. Peace Walker was likewise only available on PS3 and PSP. But now, this collection will allow players on newer platforms to enjoy these classic games.

As a side note, the original Master Collection was also updated in order to provide higher resolution visuals, including subtitles, for the original games.

We have another 6 months to wait, but Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 will launch on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on August 27th, 2026, for $49.99
